In 1991, when SILUSI S.R.L. transferred part of its business to Romania, the company got in touch with the community of the Sisters of Jesus Redeemer and the 'Victorine Le Dieu' Foundation, in the person of Sister Michela Martiniello. The community of the Sisters of Jesus Redeemer has been present in Romania for years (especially in Onesti). They take care of orphans and children with family problems, underage mothers, families and anyone who needs help, starting with a hot meal and shelter from the cold. |

From the beginning SILUSI S.R.L. has supported the Community and the 'Victorine Le Dieu' Foundation, undertaking to publicise the humanitarian objectives and plans of the Community in Italy, thus creating a network of contacts between the Sisters and many Italian families. This exchange then solidified initiatives for the long-distance adoption of Romanian children and monetary help for the Community.

Thanks to the support and constant involvement of SILUSI S.R.L.,the 'Victorine Le Dieu' Foundation was placed in contact with a group of volunteer Mountain Troops ('Alpini'). In 1997 they made it possible to develop a new intake centre in Slanic Moldova, a famous thermal area near Onesti. The centre hosts about 30 children.
This new building is now next to the house in Onesti where the Sisters take care of underage mothers and needy families. |
